David J. Kyncl
Dave Kyncl is an Academic Counseling Professional II and serves as the academic advisor for Construction Science and Environmental Design students. He also coordinates undergraduate recruiting for the College and is a certified associate academic life coach.
Dave enjoys the personal connection he develops with students as he helps them navigate their OU experience. He advised freshmen through OU’s University College and served for years as the director of the 2:8 House, an OU campus ministry, prior to working in the Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture.
He graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and from Pittsburg (Kansas) State University with a master of arts degree in Communication.
Dave’s entire family is connected to the OU campus. His wife, Rhonda, is the Associate Dean of Students for the College of Arts and Sciences. Their daughter, Mary, is a recent OU graduate and a kindergarten teacher for Tulsa Public Schools. Their son, Jonathan, is a Journalism major at OU and a member of the OU Athletics event management team. Rhonda and Dave also serve as the Faculty-in-Residence for Headington Hall.
