About
Ladan Mozaffarian, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of City and Regional Planning in the Division of Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Design at the University of Oklahoma. Her research focuses on the intersection of urban transportation planning and three pivotal factors that significantly impact both cities and their residents: sustainability, equity, and public health. She explores how land use, the built environment, and transportation planning can promote equity in access, environmental justice, residents’ quality of life, and the inclusion of marginalized populations. Moreover, Dr. Mozaffarian’s research agenda includes examining urban economic development models such as innovation districts and technology zones, assessing their planning and policymaking implications for future cities. Her work emphasizes community engagement and participatory planning within these models to assess their equity and civic inclusion throughout planning and implementation process. Dr. Mozaffarian has received numerous grants, fellowships, and awards, from organizations such as the American Planning Association-Texas Chapter, Urban Management Assistants of North Texas, Women’s Transportation Seminar, and the Center for Transportation Equity, Decisions, and Dollars. During her doctoral studies, she was awarded the Outstanding Student of the Year by the U.S. Department of Transportation and was honored with the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) fellowship by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning.
