Dr. Francesco Cianfarani
Francesco Cianfarani is an architect and holds a Ph.D in Architectural Design, “Dottorato in Architettura e Costruzione DRACo”, from the Sapienza University of Rome.
Since 2009 he has been lecturer and instructor at Sapienza University of Rome, School of Architecture Valle Giulia and School of Civil and Industrial Engineering, Campus in Rieti, in the following fields of education: Design Studio, Building Design, History of Contemporary Architecture.
His Ph.D research, titled Architettura e Riduzione. La trasformazione per via di levare, focused on investigating the culture of building transformation for modern architectural heritage, particularly focusing on theoretical and design implications in works of partial demolition. Developing this specific topic, Cianfarani’s current research interests include housing complex transformation, planned urban and architectural shrinkage and practices of spolia of modern construction elements.
As architect he founded his practice in Rome, mostly involved in the field of architectural design as first designer in architectural competitions and works supervisor for interventions of private residential and commercial building renovation.
